Although much of your family history research can be done online why not come and visit the Centre? We are located right in the heart of Edinburgh close to all main transport links. To see where we are click here: Where to find us in Scotland. There's so much more you can do at the Centre compared with using the internet. — You will be able to see images of birth, marriage and death records right up to almost the present day. Something which you can't see online. — A day search pass will allow you to spend over seven hours in our search rooms viewing as many records as you like. The costs for all our services, including prints or electronic saves, are detailed in our Charges page. — Two-hour free taster sessions are available for those new to the Centre who wish to find out more about our records. — Age restrictions apply, for more details refer to our Terms and Conditions (2. Searching in the search rooms). — Assisted searches are available for those who wish extra help in tracing their family tree. — You can consult our extensive reference library to assist your research. — You can have access to microfilm copies if some digitised records are difficult to read. — There is a café for those who want a break from work and a shop for stocking up with genealogy related gifts and goodies.You can book a seat by phone or make an enquiry by calling 0131 314 4300 between 09:00 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 16:30 or simply turn up and take a seat in one of our search rooms.
