Taster Sessions
10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00
The ScotlandsPeople Centre offers free two-hour taster sessions to first time visitors who want to sample what the Centre has to offer for family history research.
The free taster sessions begin at
10:00 and
14:00 and for two hours you can have full access to the Centre's digitised records and explore your family history. If you are new to family history then this is the perfect way to see just how easy it is to get started.
To have a free two-hour session just come into the Centre to the Adam Dome reception and ask for a free taster session. If there are seats available then you will be given a seat and instructed how to go about starting your research. You cannot pre-book these sessions.
For a small charge you can even print off copies or save images to a memory stick. Staff will be on hand to offer help and advice on using the computer and get you started. After two hours the software will automatically close your session.
After your two-hour session you can pay the £10 daily fee and move onto one of the other search rooms or book a seat and come back another day to continue with your research.
The free taster sessions are limited to one session per customer.
As these sessions are intended as an introduction to family history research and in using the software, there is no access here to the resources available in the other search rooms such as microfilm/fiche,
stand alone computers or the
library. There are also no points to plug in laptops in the Adam Dome.
