Old Parish Register (OPR) Deaths, Statutory Register Deaths, March 2010

ScotlandsPeople are pleased to announce the following improvements to the search systems at their Centre in Edinburgh:

• OPR deaths and burials records are now available electronically.

• For statutory marriages you can now search for records on two names.

• It is now possible to make cross-referenced searches on other surnames for statutory death records.

• When looking at a results page, if you click the top of the column it will sort the results into alphabetical or numeric order as appropriate.

• For statutory marriages and deaths searches, when you insert one year in the year range field, buttons will be available in the Search Results page which allow you to go up and down the years.

Statutory Births and Old Parish Registers Marriages, February 2010

• For statutory births, you need only insert one year in the Year Range field if you just want to examine a single year.

• In the statutory birth search results screen, a deeper blue colour makes white lettering more prominent. The bottom of the search results can be reached by pressing "End". Results can be sorted on any column, and on multiple columns by holding down the shift key while selecting columns. Note the buttons at the bottom of teh screen to go up and down the years which appears for single year searches.

• When images are returned, there is now a 'breadcrumb trail' at the top of the display screen where it states Search criteria -> Results -> Main Image. This can be used to navigate backwards, avoiding repeated use of the 'Back' button.
