Wills and Testaments 1513 onwards
The ScotlandsPeople Centre has an index and images of wills and testaments dating from 1513 to 1901. Each index entry lists the surname, forename, title, occupation and place of residence (where these are given) of the deceased person, the court in which the testament was recorded and the date. The indexes do not include the deceased's date of death, or the value of the estate.
Images of these wills and testaments are full colour, authentic copies of the original documents, which are held at the National Records of Scotland, Edinburgh.
Information on wills and testaments after 1901 can be found on the National Archives of Scotland website.
