Miscellaneous Records
The Miscellaneous Records series, held in the custody of the Registrar General for Scotland, consists of original birth, death, marriage and population records that are not part of the main Old Parish Registers, Statutory Records or Census classes of records. It has:
— Duplicate or scroll copies of Old Parish Registers
— Fragments of other Kirk Session records
— Private records of births, etc, kept by individual Church of Scotland ministers and others
— Registers of other churches
— Registers of Irregular Border marriages
— Registers of postponed vaccinations
Some entries in these records are included in the Old Parish Register indexes of baptisms and marriages. Copies of the records are available as images and on microfilm. Further details and references are given in the Miscellaneous Records catalogue. Photocopies and transcripts of birth, death, marriage and population records are available in the Library.
